Isle Pescatori: The Superiore Isle more known as the Isola Pescatori (Fisher's Isle), is the most characteristic with its narrow streets, the steep steps and the church of San Vittore. The isle will take you back in time in the ancient world of the fishers as restaurants and small stands rich with gift ideas give a touch of extra colour.

Isle Bella: the beautiful palazzo Borromeo, in baroque style, is a masterpiece of human capability from the 17th century. It will surprise you as you arrive from the lake with its majestic and almost unreal setting. In the palace you can see priceless works of art, furniture of the times, tapestry, pictures from famous painters and rooms that are majestically decorated. You must know that the Isola Bella takes its name form Isabella d'Adda wife of Carlo III Borromeo. Its park is a work of art. Its Italian garden, placed on ten terraces gently slops down towards the lake.

Isle Madre: is a huge botanic garden, where thousands of different plants and flowers have recreated their natural habitat as they add richness to every seasons with their different colours and intense odours. Along the roads you will see various types of animals: parrots, peacocks, pheasant and Chinese chickens. At the end we get to visit the majestic Palazzo from the 15th century that has been re-opened to the public only from 1978.

Isle of San Giovanni: also called the Toscanini small Isle in the Borromean gulf. It can be seen from the distance along the lake of verbania Palanza. This Borromeo palace from the 16th century is famous because it has been the residence of the music director Arturo Toscanini for many years.

Castles of Cannero: going along the road towards the border with Switzerland at a short distance from the lake's bank, we can admire the ruins of the Vitaliane castles called nowadays Cannero Castles, built by the Borromeo family on the isles where there was the Malpaga castle a "hideout" of the Mazzarditi brothers in the 15th century famous for their activity as bandits.

Isle of San Giulio: in front of Orta on the homonymous lake, we can admire this isle where we find the Basilica which was began in the 14th century. The frescos of the 15th, 16th and 17th century and the famous pulpit a true work of art of Roman sculpture will leave you breathless. Only on January 31st on San Giulio's day the Benedictine nuns (an enclosed order) prepare "San Giulio's bread" that is distributed to the faithful. The most numerous on the isle are the nuns which live in a former seminary that was built during the middle of the 18th century.

The Isles of Brissago: in Brissago, in the Swiss border of Lake Maggiore, we can visit the botanic park of the Brissago Isles that are composed of the Big isle and the Small isle. The first because of its small church is also called San Pancrazio: here we find a neoclassic palazzo. The second isle, also called Sant'Apollinare, conserves the ruins of the homonymous Roman parish that was built on top of a temple dedicated to Venus.
